- Telekom Austria Group takes first place in "large companies" category
- Jury attests to "sound ongoing development in reporting"
- "The great Sustaincyclopedia" communicates sustainability in a compact and comprehensible form
The Telekom Austria Group sustainability report for 2014/2015 was awarded the ASRA (Austrian Sustainability Reporting Award) sustainability prize in the "large companies" category yesterday 5 October. The Telekom Austria Group thus received the prestigious award for the third consecutive year. The ASRA jury explained that, among other factors, its decision was based on "a sound ongoing development in reporting. As always, there was an exciting and inspiring design. The presentation makes readers curious about the content. But the report also gets to the heart of things when it comes to content." In addition to design and content aspects, the jury also emphasised the report's concise length — relative to the size of the company — in its assessment: "The Telekom Austria Group did a good job of keeping it short."
"We set ourselves ambitious goals when it comes to our commitment to the environment and society. The same applies to our quality standards for reporting. We are delighted that this has been recognised again by experts," says Irene Jakobi, head of CSR at the Telekom Austria Group and A1. "Sustainability should not hide behind buzzwords. Instead, it should be communicated in a clear, comprehensible and compact way. This is the requirement our "Sustaincyclopedia" is aimed at — with a good dose of humour, too," adds Maximilian Rabl, who was responsible for the concept and design.
In addition to extensive reporting on CSR milestones — especially a 23% reduction in CO2 emissions — the Telekom Austria Group sustainability report therefore also includes an "ABC of sustainability" with informative and entertaining insights into the colourful but often rather hackneyed terms relating to CSR activities.
The ASRA has been awarded annually since 2000 for the best sustainability reports by Austrian companies. The award is conferred by the Austrian Chamber of Chartered Accountants (KWT) in cooperation with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, the Environment Agency Austria, the Federation of Austrian Industries, respACT — austrian business council for sustainable development, the Austrian Economic Chambers, Oesterreichische Kontrollbank and the Austrian Society for Environment and Technology.
