Release of 26.04.2022
Thomas Arnoldner, CEO of A1 Telekom Austria Group, on the highlights of the first quarter 2022:
“The positive growth trends of the previous year continued in the first quarter. Total revenues increased by 2.7%, EBITDA before restructuring charges increased by 7.9%, with growth in all markets. Net result for the first quarter of 2022 rose from EUR 108.9 million to EUR 130.7 million.
We continue to see strong demand for high bandwidth products, mobile WiFi routers, and in the solutions and connectivity business. Roaming revenues also slowly returned due to increased travel activities and were above prior-year levels.
Nevertheless, there are major challenges that will accompany us this year: inflationary pressure triggered by rising energy prices and macroeconomic instability caused by the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Here, we have to pay attention to cost discipline in order to mitigate some of the inflation-related increases."
Alejandro Plater, COO of A1 Telekom Austria Group, adds:
"Service revenues increased by 3.4% in the first quarter with growth in all markets. The number of mobile subscribers grew by 4.5%, those of Internet@home customers also increased by 4.5%, RGUs remained stable (-0.1%).
Due to our improved operational performance we are accelerating fiber investments across the markets with special focus in Austria where we are substantially increasing capital investment with focus on fiber and 5G roll outs.
The operating and financial results confirm the successful execution of our strategy and our focus on operational efficiency - both of which we will continue to pursue consistently in 2022."
