Hannes Ametsreiter Reappointed Chairman of the Management Board of the Telekom Austria Group

Vienna, February 27, 2013 - At today’s ordinary meeting, the Supervisory Board of the Telekom Austria Group decided to unanimously reappoint Hannes Ametsreiter as Chairman of the Management Board of the Telekom Austria Group. His current term of office will expire on December 31, 2013 and will be extended for another three years, with an option for a further two-year extension.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Telekom Austria Group, Rudolf Kemler said: “Today’s reappointment of Hannes Ametsreiter by the Supervisory Board is an important sign of continuity and ongoing commitment to the Group’s proven convergence strategy. Especially in economic challenging times, the company must remain consistent along its strategic path to meet the demands of the ever-changing environment of the European telecommunications markets. Hannes Ametsreiter is one of the most experienced telecommunications managers in Austria and abroad. The Supervisory Board is convinced that he will lead Telekom Austria Group toward a successful future for the benefit of the shareholders, the customers and the workforce.“

Hannes Ametsreiter was born in 1967. He studied at the University of Salzburg. After completing his doctorate, he continued his education attending an MBA program at the Pepperdine University in the USA and participating in an executive education program at the Stanford University (USA) and INSEAD (France). He began his professional career as a brand manager with Procter & Gamble, before joining product management at mobilkom austria in 1996. In 2001, he was appointed Chief Marketing Officer of mobilkom austria. From 2005 to 2006, he held the position of CMO of Mobiltel in Bulgaria. On July 1, 2007 Hannes Ametsreiter was appointed Chief Marketing Officer of Telekom Austria TA AG. On January 1, 2009 he was also appointed CEO of Telekom Austria Fixed Net.

Since April 1, 2009 Hannes Ametsreiter has served as Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of the Telekom Austria Group. In 2010, he was also appointed CEO of A1 Telekom Austria AG, which was created following the merger of mobilkom austria AG and Telekom Austria TA AG.

In 2008, Hannes Ametsreiter received the international Marketing Award “CMO of the Year“ awarded by Booz & Company. Between 2009 and 2012, he was also the only Austrian executive to serve as a member of the international GSMA Board.
