Telekom Austria Group provides End-to-End communication link
The raw meteorological data (satellite data) are received via satellite at the EUMETSAT headquarters in Darmstadt, processed at Eumetsat Data Center and further transferred via the Telekom Austria Group backbone to Teleport Aflenz one of Europe's largest satellite relay stations. From there the data are sent to EUTELSAT E10A, a communication satellite broadcasting the data all over Europe.
Redundant Satellite communication established
The content transmitted from EUMETSAT represents a continuous data stream of up to 69 Mbit/s. "In order to avoid the impact of heavy rain or snowfall which might jam or slow down the transmission of the uplink signal considerably to the EUTELSAT satellite Telekom Austria Group has appropriate infrastructure resources to provide a geographically redundant relay station at Vienna-Arsenal additionally to the Teleport Aflenz site including the related redundant and alternative network links. As a result we achieve service availability close to 100 percent", said Stefan Amon, Director of Wholesale, Telekom Austria Group.
EUMETSAT is an intergovernmental organisation whose purpose is to supply weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – to the National Meteorological Services of its Member and Cooperating States in Europe, and other users worldwide.
