A1 Telekom Austria Group: Let´s Speak and Think Energy
With SolMate, Austrian subsidiary A1 brings sustainable photovoltaic system to the home
Since 2013, A1 has been working intensively on the digitalization of the energy sector, creating innovative solutions and working on their further development.
By networking with municipal utilities, energy suppliers and other market players in the sector A1 has been able to identify various trends that will influence markets, their participants and existing business models in future.
In Austria, electricity is being produced in a sustainable manner to an ever-increasing extent: whether through hydropower, wind farms or photovoltaic systems. However, if you want to produce electricity yourself and thus make a personal contribution to reducing your ecological footprint, this is often very difficult, as the corresponding systems are expensive and complicated to install. With SolMate, A1 is bringing a simple, smart and affordable solution for private use to the market, thus helping shape the future in a sustainable manner. SolMate is available from June 5, in selected A1 Shops.
• Simple plug-and-play photovoltaic system for every household
• Saving of up to 20% electricity costs and 6,700 kg CO2 per year
• MySolMate App for easy monitoring
SolMate for Garden and Balcony
SolMate consists of photovoltaic panels and a storage unit with a capacity of 960Wh. The panels are simply mounted in the garden or on the balcony parapet and connected to the storage unit. By means of a simple plug, SolMate then feeds the electricity produced into a nearby socket in the circuit of the house or apartment. When a consumer is switched on, the electricity comes first from SolMate. Only when the required power is higher than the power that SolMate can supply the electricity bill will be charged.
In case of a power failure, devices such as TV, mobile phone charger, lamps, radio, water pumps or a refrigerator with a maximum connected load of 600Watt can directly be connected to SolMate.
The SolMate storage unit uses lithium-iron-phosphate batteries and completely dispenses with cobalt. This makes not only the production but also the storage of electricity particularly sustainable. SolMate is suitable for all forms of living in which a power grid is used: this means that caravans, mobile homes and allotment houses can also be easily upgraded.
