A1 Telekom Austria Group’s subsidiary in North Macedonia now newest member of the A1 ‘brand family’

  • Local brand Vip replaced by A1
  • Rebranding underlines the fundamental transformation of the Group’s operations in North Macedonia

  • Further step in consistent implementation of group-wide single-brand strategy successfully taken

As of today, the A1 Telekom Austria Group's operating company in North Macedonia announced the replacement of its local brand Vip by A1. This marks one more significant step in the group-wide roll out of the A1 brand. Just under a month earlier, the Belarusian subsidiary of the Group had finalized its rebranding into A1.

Thomas Arnoldner, CEO of the A1 Telekom Austria Group, on the introduction of the A1 brand in North Macedonia: ‘A warm welcome to the newest member of our A1 ‘brand family’! We are convinced that this supports the market positioning as well as efficiency and growth targets of the Group and its subsidiary companies.’

Alejandro Plater, COO of the A1 Telekom Austria Group, on the common understanding of identity behind A1: ‘This brand is much more than just a logo, it´s a new common identity. A1 covers all aspects of convergence and ICT: mobile, fixed, TV and data solutions as well as cloud and content services. Over the past decade, our company in North Macedonia has undergone intense changes, successfully transforming itself from a traditional mobile operator into a full-service digital enterprise. We are proud, therefore, that from now on, also our operations in North Macedonia will appear on the market solely under the A1 brand.’

Back in 2017, the A1 Telekom Austria Group had announced its plans to gradually – dependent on local circumstances – expand the A1 brand to its entire operating business. With this objective, in 2018 the rebranding of the Bulgarian and Croatian subsidiaries to A1 and a brand refresh in Austria took place. The A1 brand was previously already implemented on the Slovenian market and at A1 Digital as well as in the international corporate brand A1 Telekom Austria Group. In August 2019, the Group's operating company in Belarus had announced the finalization of its local rebranding into A1.
