The Supervisory Board of the Dutch telecommunications group KPN has announced that it has elected Alejandro Plater as a member of the Supervisory Board. Plater represents the Mexican company América Móvil, which holds 16% of the Dutch company, and succeeds Carlos García Moreno Elizondo. Plater will also assume Moreno's responsibilities within the KPN Supervisory Board as a member of the Audit Committee and the Strategy & Organization Committee.
Alejandro Plater has been a member of the A1 Telekom Austria Group Management Board since March 2015 and has held the position of Chief Operating Officer since September 2018. The Austrian-based company is a leading provider of digital services and communications solutions with approximately 25 million customers and operates in Austria and six other countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
As part of the strategic realignment of the company, Plater has optimized internal processes, put the company on a solid financial basis and made it fit for the challenges of digitalization. In 2017, Plater launched the rebranding of the A1 brand across all markets and channels. The uniform and cross-national brand identity underlines the A1 Telekom Austria Group's One-Company strategy.
Before joining A1 Telekom Austria Group, Plater worked for Sud America Seguros, Chubb & Son and most recently with Ericsson, where he held positions as Director and Vice President. In addition to his professional experience in Austria, Plater has worked in the USA, Sweden, Mexico and Argentina. Plater was born in Argentina in 1967 and has Argentine and Swedish citizenship. He studied economics in Buenos Aires and completed several postgraduate studies in sales and leadership development (Columbia University and Wharton School in the USA and London Business School in the UK).
