A1 Austria acquires fiber optic network from VX Fiber in Dietach

• A1 expands Austria's largest fiber optic network
• Customers in Dietach benefit from additional offers from A1
• VX Fiber remains operator and service platform of the fiber optic network - no changes for existing customers

A1, the Austrian subsidiary of A1 Telekom Austria Group announces the acquisition of the fiber optic infrastructure of the international operator VX Fiber in Dietach, Upper Austria. As a result, approximately 30 kilometers of fiber optic cable and 1,500 households and businesses in the community will be integrated into A1's largest fiber optic network. Existing broadband contracts in Dietach remain unaffected by the network takeover.

A1 Austria CEO Marcus Grausam commented on the cooperation with VX Fiber: "We are pleased that we can expand Austria's largest fiber optic network with the purchase of the expanded network in Dietach. This will give households and businesses in the municipality the opportunity to use A1's comprehensive fiber optic offerings and services in the future. By investing in the digital infrastructure, A1 is taking responsibility and driving forward the digitalization of Austria."

Ultra-fast Internet and the best fiber optic offers
With a length of more than 73,000 kilometers, the A1 fiber optic network is the largest broadband network in Austria. More than 700,000 households are directly connected to the A1 fiber optic network via FTTH/B. The cooperation between A1 and VX Fiber enables the approximately 1,500 households in Dietach to order A1 products via the A1 fiber optic network in addition to the existing regional providers.

With the takeover of the fiber optic network in the municipality, A1 is using VX Fiber's Open Access platform for the first time, on which other providers can also deliver their products in addition to A1. This internationally proven system allows for further process automation and regionalization of the offered products.
