The vision of Whalebone, to protect one billion customers against cyber security attacks and crimes, has been approached a good step with this amazing number.

Within the context of the first European Telco Cyber Security Conference, a trophy was handed over as a symbol of the successful and promising performance of the collaboration of Whalebone and A1.

Richard Malovic, CEO Whalebone, says, “Our vision is to protect 1 billion customers and we strongly believe in our brand promise “connected means protected”. Each and every connected user deserves to be protected at best. With the Telco Cyber Security Conference, we want to explore and share best practices on the cyber security approach of Telecommunication operators. Given the millions of attacks every day, there is plenty for us to do”.

Alejandro Plater, COO of A1 Group, says, “It is a pleasure and a confirmation that we brought Whalebone to our A1 Start-up Campus 6 years ago. The founders and their trusted teams are committed to the development and implementation of cyber security strategies and 1 million protected customers in our Group is such a fantastic number and speaks for itself. It makes us one of the strongest cyber security players in the region. Only with joined forces – Group colleagues, partners, and customers - we are able to respond with adequate services and offerings to a development that almost feels like a global cyber tsunami”.

As a telco company protecting highly sensitive customer data is both top priority and core business. A1 Group together with its five subsidiaries Austria, Croatia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Serbia, takes every opportunity to emphasize the importance of cyber security, and is increasingly engaging with other major telco companies to plan appropriate strategies and then take the adequate measures to minimize or defend against cyberattacks.

The goal of the 2-day workshop, which has taken place in this format for the first time at the A1 headquarters in Vienna, hosted by Whalebone, is to demonstrate joined power and position telco companies as a trusted advisor when it comes to cyber security. Is a great opportunity for telcos to build long-term assets and an important revenue stream, providing high value to end customers whether residential, Soho, SMB or Enterprise. Cybersecurity is a concern of all. As a long and trusted partner and alumni of the A1 innovation incubator, Whalebone has decided to hold the conference with A1 in Vienna.

Note to the Editor

Whalebone is member of the A1 Start-up Campus and a cybersecurity provider that prevents malware from communicating and downloading. It protects networks and users against botnets, ransomware, spyware and phishing. Whalebone intervenes regardless of the current “phase of life” of the malicious software: before the download, before the dangerous domain is accessed, but also when the malware is already on the device and tries to communicate with its Command & Control Center. Whalebone primarily focuses on DNS resolution at the network level and identity theft protection. The Whalebone protection thus covers all devices in the network, including those that cannot be secured at all because no suitable app or even an interface is available for its user. Whalebone is therefore also ideally suited to securing smart home gadgets, such as smart thermostats or cameras. The service is updated in real time, so users are protected against the latest threats at all times.

Only in November 2022, Whalebone was commissioned by the European Commission to provide a pan-European DNS solution infrastructure. More information at
