A1 Telekom Austria Group Launches European eSports Format Clash of Leagues

The eSports industry has become an enormous market in recent years, both in terms of participants and revenues. Once a niche sport for eSports fans, eSports has become an essential part of the global entertainment industry and has received an additional boost especially since the Corona pandemic. The eSports Ecosystem Report of 2021 predicts that the key industry companies will be responsible to surpass $1.5 Billion by 2023.

Four years ago, the A1 Telekom Austria Group launched the first two major leagues, A1 Adria League and A1 eSports League Austria. The A1 Gaming League in Bulgaria and the VOKA League in Belarus complete the A1 eSports leagues. Now they "join forces" for the first time and launch the new format together with the Swisscom Hero League.

For the launch of Clash of Leagues in 2021, the best teams from the following leagues will compete in the ultimate Brawl Stars showdown: A1 Adria League, A1 eSports League Austria, A1 Gaming League, Swisscom Hero League and VOKA League. With their footprints, the five leagues cover a total target audience of more than 141 million people from 15 different countries and reach eSports fans across the CEE region.

While the top teams of the leagues will be determined shortly and will receive a direct place for the final on August 14 and 21, the runners-up as well as European Brawl Stars teams still have the chance to receive wildcards for the final. This will allow Brawl Stars teams from the CEE region to compete for advancement at the International Qualifier on July 24, 2021. The top three teams of the Qualifier will then meet the runners-up in a 3-week group stage and battle it out for the last three final tickets. The tournament will be commented by an international caster team that will accompany the best players on their way to the final.

With Clash of Leagues, A1 Telekom Austria Group not only sets the next milestone in eSports, but also offers the winners of their leagues the opportunity to advance to an international tournament format for the first time.

The ultimate showdown will take place at the grand Clash of Leagues final event on August 21, which will be held in Austria for the first time. Registration for the qualifiers will open on July 5, 2021. All details at clash-of-leagues.com
