Strong fourth quarter and solid performance for FY 2018

"The consistent implementation of our growth strategy proved to be successful also in 2018. The A1 Telekom Austria Group is recording a solid operating performance. Revenues increased by 1.8% for the full year, adjusted for FX and one-off effects revenues increased by 3.1% year-on-year. Group EBITDA decreased by 1.3% in 2018, adjusted for one-off and FX effects as well as restructuring charges EBITDA rose by 3.6%, with growth recorded in all segments with the exception of Slovenia and Belarus. Due to our solid revenue growth and our continuous cost efficiency improvements, we achieved a strong operative EBITDA growth.

Despite operational improvements, reported net profit for the full year 2018 amounted to EUR 242.7 mn, compared to EUR 345.5 mn in the previous year. The decline is exclusively attributable to a positive tax effect in the previous year and the expected brand value amortization of EUR 197.9 mn in 2018 (2017: EUR 121.8 mn) due to the Group-wide rebranding. This means that more than 90% of these amortizations have already materialized as of year-end 2018.

In the fourth quarter 2018, we recorded a strong revenue growth of 3.1%. EBITDA excluding restructuring charges rose strongly by 8.3%, in Austria even by 8.6%.

Innovative products with a focus on entertainment and smart living for residential customers as well as IoT, ICT, cloud and security solutions in the business segment underline our position as a strong international group in a digital future".
