Thomas Arnoldner, CEO of A1 Telekom Austria Group, on the highlights of the 2021: “We continued to deliver a very good operational and financial performance for the full year 2021: total revenues increased by 4.4 %, mainly driven by service revenue growth in almost all markets. EBITDA before restructuring charges increased by 7.8 %, driven by Austria and Bulgaria. The net result 2021 increased from EUR 388.8 mn in 2020 to EUR 455.0 mn.
All in all, we developed into one of the fastest growing companies in the European telco sector over the past few years. These results underline the successful strategy execution, the resilience of our business model and the positive impact of the measures taken in this challenging environment.
Our high-performance and future-proof fixed- and mobile networks form the digital backbone and will be further expanded in 2022, especially in Austria, where we will put a focus on fibre roll-out.
A solid financial performance also goes hand in hand with actively practiced environmental and social responsibility. For a green and digital transformation Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance (ESG) was introduced as strategy enabler in 2021. With ambitious and measurable targets and we aim to foster more efficient, resource-preserving and thus more sustainable ways of working and living and enable the potential of digitalization for climate, people and society.”
Alejandro Plater, COO of A1 Telekom Austria Group, adds:“We have been present in all markets with the joint A1 brand since April 2021, continued to make use of the growth opportunities that digitalization presents and monetized the strong demand for higher bandwidth products, for 5G and the demand for ICT solutions and connectivity stemming from business customers. Mobile service revenues increased by 5.3% in 2021, fixed-line service revenues rose by 2.4 %. At the same time, we maintained an ongoing focus on operational efficiency.
In 2021 spectrum was acquired in Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia and we will thus continue the 5G roll-out in 2022 in Austria and these three countries.”
