Smart Entrance: A1 Telekom Austria Group Subsidiary Enables Intelligent Access Management in Times of Social Distancing

Particularly in times of social distancing digitalization and intelligent access solutions play a decisive role in entering the “new normal”. The reopening of stores requires smart access solutions helping both sales staff and costumers to keep the appropriate distance.

With immediate effect, A1 Austria, the Austrian subsidiary of A1 Telekom Austria Group, offers an intelligent access control system that enables a secure shopping experience while maintaining the required minimum distances. A digital traffic light system in the entrance area makes it clear whether customers can enter the shop or have to wait until a safe entry is possible.

Automatic traffic light system ensures minimum distances
Smart control is made possible by optical sensors, which count visitors at the entrances and exits and calculate the current shop occupancy utilization by taking the sales area into account. Shops thus ensure that the required minimum distances are observed and at the same time ensure the best possible occupancy utilization of capacity.

This enables retailers to display times with low visitor load on their websites and inform customers about the current load.

By extending the solution, companies also have the option of analyzing visitor paths in the shop and queues in addition to the length of stay, A1 Smart Entrance ensures customer anonymity and companies can rely on compliance with data privacy and GDPR. Even though optical sensors are used to count visitors, no images or biometrical data is stored.
