A1 Telekom Austria Group Wins 2020 Leading Lights Award for the “Most Innovative AI/Analytics Strategy” - SARA

Following A1 Telekom Austria Group strategy to deploy group wide data driven  platforms, the team of Technology has been named a winner in Light Reading's “Leading Lights Awards 2020” for the “Most Innovative Artificial Intelligence and Analytics Strategy - SARA”. The winners of the Leading Lights Awards, the telecom industry's most prestigious awards program, were announced on August 21, in a special online ceremony. The Leading Lights program comprised 21 categories, recognizing the industry's top companies and their executives for outstanding achievements in next-generation communications technology, applications, services, strategies and innovation.

SARA (Superior Analytics for Radio Access) is built to support the rollout and operation of the current A1 Telekom Austria Group RAN Networks, as well as the technological evolution towards 5G. SARA is designed and used as a group platform and deployed in all countries, where A1 Telekom Austria Group serves its customers with superior network quality. Based on data analytics and machine learning algorithms, SARA is able to predict service quality, costs of deployment and even revenues returned before the network is actually expanded. With this innovation, unique in the market, A1 Telekom Austria Group is pioneering the data driven network deployment and takes it to the next level.

"This year's Leading Lights Awards entries show how the global communications industry is experiencing and embracing change, all while continuing to improve one of modern society's foundational resources," said Light Reading Editor-in-Chief Phil Harvey. "The judges were challenged to pick winners among several groups of really closely matched finalists and we think the whole group should be proud of their achievements. Congratulations, everyone."

“SARA, which has developed as an idea in Serbia out of the need to assure capacity for our customers has, over the years, been growing in a full analytics platform, based on our group data lake. I am very proud that years of hard working and development of the technology teams in the countries and group level has been recognized. It is an excellent example of how AI supports our daily decision making from radio network planning to group investments and how we can focus our energy on where it really matters: The customers who experience superior service aided by superior analytics.” says Dr. Alexander Kuchar, Director Group Technology and Future Services of A1 Telekom Austria Group.
