Nancy Giordano and Brian Solis on challenges of the future

The Group has just announced that it has successfully completed the rebranding of all operating companies, with A1 Serbia as last subsidiary across the A1 Telekom Austria Group. Thus, the Serbian subsidiary with new name and look was host of an exclusive talk on the challenges of the future.

Due to the pandemic situation, the conference was held in online format in Belgrade, with local experts, representatives from the business community and the media. Almost 1,000 guests were presented various aspects of digitalization, along with changes and challenges that both people and society will face on a global level in the coming years. According to the talk´s motto, “Technology, a force for good”, Nancy Giordano, a strategist futurist and keynote speaker and Brian Solis, a digital anthropologist and futurist, discussed with Alejandro Plater, COO A1 Telekom Austria Group and Dejan Turk, CEO A1 Serbia their views on the use of smart technology and how this will have an impact on everyday life and business.

Each of the speakers presented his or her own subjective view of how technologies will develop in the future and backed up their ideas with numerous best practice examples. Even if the discussions were partly controversial, all four experts were sure of one thing, that the world as we know it today, will soon to be changing due to fast digitalization, numerous innovative approaches in different business segments and the accelerated development of smart technologies. Changes will cover a wide range of business areas, from automation of production and transport, to artificial intelligence and virtual reality, all the way to fantastic telecommunication advances and acceleration of information flow through Cloud, 5G network and the Internet of Things. The audience was confronted with a future that will be radically different from our present time. Technological changes will cause positive social changes, better interactions between people and machines and improve the way we think, live and work.

Dejan Turk, CEO of A1 Serbia and A1 Slovenia and host of the conference pointed out that each of us has the power to make a change for the better. Combined with modern technology, that power can reshape our experiences. Turk also mentioned that technology is already making the world a better place and this will go on as long as we use technology as a force for good. He concluded that A1 will provide a solid support to all its customers during the digital transformation.

Alejandro Plater, COO of A1 Telekom Austria Group, stated that we are living in a constantly evolving digital era and it is both an exciting opportunity and a great responsibility to play an active part as an ICT company. “The world has never been more interconnected, both people and machines. Within A1 Telekom Austria Group, we are committed to developing new solutions and I am happy to say that A1 Serbia successfully follows global trends, making a great contribution to our Group strategy in this area. With Narrow Band IoT, private LTE networks and other advanced connectivity and cyber security solutions, I am convinced that we will significantly contribute to a further development of the Serbian industry and economy. We have come a long way, but we only scratched the surface with what we have seen and experienced so far. Truly great things are yet to come in improving the telecommunications market and creating the best possible user experience in the new digital era.”

Nancy Giordano, one of the leading futurologists and an acclaimed author, believes we are yet to witness some real technological changes that enable both economic and cultural revolution. “The best is yet to come”, said Ms. Giordano, “This is just the tip of the iceberg and everything we have witnessed so far is merely 1% of all changes to come”. She believes humanity is at a turning point, but on the right track. With the help of advanced technologies and new opportunities, we can contribute in making the world a better place for future generations.

Brian Solis, a world-renowned futurist, digital analyst, anthropologist and author of several bestsellers, believes everything will change due to the rapid development of disruptive technologies, such as cloud systems, 5G networks, artificial intelligence and automation. "The future isn't what it used to be," said Mr. Solis, but he also believes this turns out to be positive for the world and humanity. The world has already dramatically changed in 2020 and now has become a blank slate for reimagining the future of business and private life. Mr. Solis focused on the rapid acceleration of disruptive technologies such as Cloud, 5G and AI automation along with the human impact of the global pandemic. “Regardless what you think will happen tomorrow, we can all agree that humanity can achieve great things when people and their experiences are in the focus of change,” Mr. Solis concluded.

The speakers painted an optimistic picture of the near future and inspired the audience to take an active role in the digital age in order to change the world for the better.
