Solid third quarter 2022: positive growth trends continued despite difficult environment



Thomas Arnoldner, CEO of A1 Telekom Austria Group, on the highlights of the third quarter 2022: 
"In the third quarter of 2022, we continued on our growth path and achieved growth in both revenues (+7.2%) and EBITDA before restructuring (+4.9%). Net result for the third quarter of 2022 increased from EUR 181 million to EUR 205 million.

Strong demand for high bandwidth products, successful upselling measures, positive roaming effects, and also favorable exchange rate developments contributed to the good result. However, high inflation, in particular the sharp rise in energy costs, poses a major challenge for the company. In this increasingly difficult macroeconomic environment, it is essential to take appropriate countermeasures. 

A positive development is the recent deregulation in Austria. This now gives us the opportunity to expand the fiber network even faster and more efficiently. Thanks to partnerships with around 20 providers throughout Austria, we are building a fiber network that can be better utilized and operated more economically. What's more, we will be able to respond more quickly and flexibly to customer needs in the future - to the benefit of all consumers and Austria as a business location.” 

Alejandro Plater, COO of A1 Telekom Austria Group, adds:
"Service revenues increased by 5.5% in the third quarter with growth in all markets. The number of mobile customers grew by 4.6%, that of Internet@home customers by 5.0%, and RGUs increased by 1.7%. 

This good result was achieved in an increasingly difficult macroeconomic environment. We therefore introduced efficiency measures to cushion the increase in costs and successfully implement our strategy.

The overall higher CAPEX is mainly attributable to increased fiber and 5G roll-out activities in Austria. A1 plays a key role in creating a secure and sustainable digital infrastructure."
